ESPECIALLY FOR OUR GUESTS
Once your booking is confirmed, we will send an email to advise of your Pre-arrival Kit.
Prior To Arrival
One week before you arrive, we will touch base via email to personalise your Pre-arrival Kit. All details will be updated to prepare for coming to Reef Cottage Wonga Beach.
We provide a personal meet and greet service upon arrival at the Cottage.
Wonga Beach has both mobile telephone coverage (Telstra, Optus & Dodo) and Broadband. Reef Cottage Wonga Beach is fitted with fast ADSL connection and has access to mobile broadband. The provider Telstra has more telecommunication exchanges than the other carriers and they currently deliver the strongest reception for the area.
If you are an overseas visitor travelling with a mobile handset(cellphone), having international roaming allows convenient access to our local networks however it can be expensive. We recommend you purchase a Telstra Prepaid SIM card (with top-up voucher for options) to be used in calls/messaging/data etc. If Cairns is your first disembarkation point, this can be done at the Airport Arrival Hall Internet Cafe or at a supermarket (nearest is Coles at Smithfield Shopping Centre). Telstra technical assistance is available in their Telstra Shop (also at Smithfield Shopping Centre).
There is no paging or mobile coverage in the wilderness of the Daintree National Park stretching from Mossman to Cape Tribulation. As you travel towards Daintree, there is reasonable coverage on the southern approach to the Daintree River and good coverage in the Daintree Village but not past the Village. There is limited coverage in the Ferry area. North of the Daintree River, the service is mainly available at high points on the coast. The spots where mobile reception may work above the Daintree River are on Alexandra Range lookout, on the tower in the Daintree Discovery Centre, on Thornton Beach and on the rocky headland at the southern side of Cape Tribulation. Click Telstra mobile network to view coverage. Mobile phones will work when you are further off the coast, so if you go out on a Great Barrier Reef tour, you’ll be able to regain your mobile service again while on board your vessel.
There is landline service from Cairns to Cape Tribulation. All businesses operating north of the Daintree River advertise their landline numbers in the public phone books or Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette phone book. The landline at Reef Cottage Wonga Beach is available for local telephone calls only.
